Matthew & Savannah Gardner
Matthew, Savannah, and Jedidiah Gardner have been called of God, ordained by Temple Baptist Church of Herndon, Virginia, and are aided by BIMI. They reached the field in 2022. They are currently working in Uganda’s newest city, Soroti. They have seen many souls saved and are excited to be starting their first church plant. Website
James & Cheryl Pridgen
The history of East Africa Baptist College actually dates back to 1999, when the Lord laid upon the heart of Pastor James Pridgen to establish a Bible College for the purpose of training Pastors and Church Leaders. At that time, Pastor James and Mrs. Cheryl were living and ministering in the town of Mbarara. Then, after much prayer, it was decided that the Lord wanted them to move to Kampala.
During the early years of the Church, they had to rented. In 2004 they started Gospel Light Baptist Institute in order to help train their church members. Then the Lord helped the church to get the current property where we are now located. God’s provision was truly miraculous. Many people sacrificially gave to the Lord and the current facilities were built. Website
Alan & Elena Sutphen
Alan and Elena have been on the field of Uganda since June 2011 and began working on a church plant in a village outside of Soroti. In 2016, after this church was turned over to a national pastor, Alan assumed the leadership of the Soroti Orphan Assistance Project (SOAP). There are 43 orphans that we minister to through the Independent Baptist Church and the Independent Baptist Primary School. Our goal is to see these children saved, baptized and discipled to be well-grounded and faithful witnesses for Christ, in their communities and throughout Uganda. Website
Tony & Kristy Applegate
The Applegate family has been in Uganda since 2002. Their first experience was in the southern Ugandan city of Mbarara where they worked for 10 months maintaining the work of a missionary who was on furlough. During the 10 months, the Lord burdened the hearts of Tony and Kristy to return to Uganda as permanent missionaries. In January of 2005, the Applegates returned to Uganda to work with Keith Stensaas and family in Masaka, a city 2 hours northeast of Mbarara. God has instilled a unique blend of present and future planning to fulfill the biblical missionary role of church planting. They are actively involved in Bible college training and national pastor development for current church planting endeavors. God in 2007 impressed on Tonys heart the G.R.A.C.E. Project in the aiding of local Baptist churches in the development of Christian schools with orphan boarding sections and street children ministries. Two national families have been very influential in the start of the Grace Project. Website
